It's HUGE but oddly not Blue and Docks a Go'Go, plus lots more

It’s been a once in a Blue Moon sort of week, what with the lovely weather for the finale of the school hols making it have a real feel of late October, and then poor Into the Blue (next door to us) lost their gas supply at lunch time with a restaurant full of hungry people,  plus the appauling weather and human tragedy events from around the world…  Thank your Gods that we have made it to the Weekend!

Yes, this week saw a lunar event occur that I believe I am right in saying will not be seen again until 2037. It’s the one  where the the moon becomes a Super Blue Moon...
‘ A Supermoon occurs when the Moon is at its closest point in its orbit to the Earth at the same time as a full Moon, making it appear bigger and brighter’.
The effect on us. as beings, is supposed to be noticeable and it defintely is where water is concerned, as Shoreham has suffered flooding today on the afternoons High Tide, all be it a small one unless it was your car which wa sgetting wet. I did notice that one of the house boats may have been in a bit of trouble,  as it looked as though they were trying to get a tarpaulling under the hull (taking a picture would not have been in good taste ).  It’s a very good thing that this did not coincide with a strong southerly wind, as that surge could have created serious problems for the town.
It did cross my mond if the tide height may have caused the gas pipe to the restaurant to be compomised, as no one else seemed to have any problem but probably not.  The Beach is a shingle bar, so the water is pretty much just ‘under us’ when we have the BIG tides (ask anybody trying to dig a hole for a Swimming pool ).  However, It didn’t stop a SUP lesson taking place from the SYC and probably made it a lot better, as the basin was as full as it can be and that gives loads of paddling area in shallo waters.

School holidays, as I said, are done (I think Adur area went back today?) and it looks as thought the weather has realised this, as we currently have quite a pleasant outlook for this weekend! I think most would agree that we could have had a nicer 6 week Hols period but it was it was and we move on.. without much of a tan.  End of summer hols normally means the start of the Autumn sales, as the Winter stock will roll up in the next few weeks but to be honest, the way things have been this year I don’t forsee it amounting to much of a sale, as nearly everything has been reduced already. Saying that, if there is something you are interested in it’s always worth asking us, as we do Price Match the dreaded Internet Sales and you can then collect it if close by and even check the fit, if needs be. If not, we can ship!

Here is something different.. Dock Foiling.. perhaps something you are not aware of?
This video from Ensis promoting their Hip Hop 98 Pro board will give you a pretty good idea (there are local peops doing it, mainly on the river close to the railway bridge). The Hip Hop is not a 98lt volume board as most would assume by its name but a 98cm long and has only 13lt volume board , which is about the same as a kids bodyboard!  Apparently that’s all you need, as YOU do the rest with that perfect pumping action ( it sort of reminds me of people dancing on TOTP.. if you don’t know what that is.. lucky you!) . Price is £749.00 (board only, no foil) and they are in stock at Ensis UK right now, so approx. 1 working day to us and to you! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0vws6NE7z0

Not going to bore the pants off of people tonight and I am running late, so let’s see what the weekend weather is looking like and how High those tides will be.

Saturday, 32°C, sunny with a water temp of 25°C.. that’s in Corfu but here we will have 20°C with light cloud cover and a cyclonic wind of around 7kts, with a water temp of roughly 19°C, so it looks to be the best weekend paddleboarding day for quite a while! High tide is at 13.50hrs on a 6.8m, so once again that estuary will be flooded to paddling perfection, especially if you want to cruise around the house boats (sure they won’t mind a couple of hundered paddleboarders looking in their portholes). You can use the tide to head up the river in the morning, take a break for lunch and then use the tide again heading back, but do watch out if you are in the harbour area when that tide has turned, as a lot of water will be heading back to the harbour mouth and the greatest amount will be between 16.50hrs and 18.50hrs ( 3rd and 4th hour of the tidal movement).

Sunday is looking to be a re-run of Saturday, with a slightly higher air temp of 23°C, still with light cloud and a cyclonic 7kt wind. Tide is High at 14.32hrs on a 6.7m, so you can do everything that you did on Saturday all over again, if you still have any energy! Once again, do watch the tide late in the afternoon as we don’t want to hear of paddlers being ‘washed out’ of the harbour mouth.
Don’t forget that we have a couple of New  iSUP boards on offer at £199.00 and we do have a demo you can use to check out the size, prior to the purchase.

And that’s it for another week in El Paradisio. Next week we will see changes taking place with one of the Big Brands but more about that on Monday. Back in the morning with the Beach Vid but until then... Have a great Friday night!
