I think the warmer winds took place earlier in the day..  took a look at Ferring at 9.50am and although it was very wet  it was reasonably 'warm'  but then by all accounts it cooled as the day went on.  The majority said that they were really cold even with the obligatory head and handwear required for a February 'day out'. Today it definitely does have a bite to the wind (a couple of kites were out earlier but no windsurfers as far as I know) so I think that the 4.2° registering on the Worthing Site is correct! (As a matter of note Shorehams Weather site is now being attended to). Winds this evening will of course be of no use at all (unless you are happy to sail in the dark..) and could be interesting but hopefully not damaging!

So with Week One of Presidente Trump not going so well and what with the on-going 'if and when' we Brexit debate causing more uncertainty  (not to mention a lack of lettuce!!)  it is not surprising that we have to warn you of more price increases.  
One increase that maybe of interest to a lot of you (like me!) is that sadly ATAN have announced that they will have to increase their prices on March 1st (two smaller rises have already been 'taken' by the Importer and as Dealers we have a reduced margin to try and keep prices at a reasonable level). It looks as though the increase will be close to 10% which means a pair of the popular Mistral Boots will increase from £44.60 to £48.99, as will the Madisson Split Toe (they were more expensive but the increase has been reduced to make pricing simpler).  Hot Mistral 6mm boots were £48.75 and are now £53.99. These are still excellent value for a 'one off' product but you could save yourself a few pounds by  Buying Now (they do keep if kept in the dark!). As a final note on pricing.. believe it or not Atan boots were £49.00 in the late nineties when the pound crashed.. I remember it well as they were the only boot I could wear and Spartan Wetsuits stopped importing them!

 

On a happier note ATAN have also launched a new version of the Mistral boot (and the Sunfast Shoe). It's one for those that sail in area's where nasty sharp things can slice the bottom of your boots.  The name says it all.. Semtex-Kevlar boots have a layer of Kevlar between the neoprene and latex dip to add protection for the wearer. They  are available in T1 to T5 sizing and the price is £58.99, as Kevlar aint cheap! The Reef Shoe is in T1 to T6 and priced at £49.99. The boots are available now and we will have them in the shop shortly.  Keep your eyes open in the Wind and SUP Mags as there may well be a very interesting article on ATAN coming up...  the guy that owns the company is quite an amazing talent (Nicolas Tempe).

 

Harnesses.. we have a LOT of harnesses!! Wind and Kite!  If you are thinking of replacing yours then do Think NOW as most brands have upped their pricing by 20% for the 017 product. For an example  a  Pro Limit T-Type windsurf harness was £109.00in 2016.. same model harness for 2017 is £139.00! Buying now will save you money for a product that is not that dissimilar to the 017 models and if it is a couple of years old you could save a LOT.. up to 50% off! I don't mean to harp on about pricing but if I don't tell you now whilst we have pre-increase stock then it will be too late.. 

 

As much as I would like to carry on ( there is so much going on kit wise) time has caught up and the weather is important!

The current forecast for the weekend is.. 

A friggin disaster Windwise! The winds are cyclonic both days so no fun likely to be had on any wind driven craft.. unless you like as sudden windshift! Good news is that there should still be a swell running so SUP could be fun as the tides are currently favourable for Shoreham.  Saturday has a little rain in the morning and Sunday should be clear! 

Tides are 16.19hrs on a 5.4m Saturday and 17.35hrs on a 5.1m Sunday.

 

And finally.. our congratulations to an ex-shop employee that some of you may remember.. a Mr Andy Haffenden.. on his engagement and forth coming marriage to a lovely Girl from Florida. We are of course currently trying to contact his fiancée to.. TELL HER ALL ! :)
