Dart 18s at Worthing.. Go Nano and RTM Duo now available!'

Sunny here today and I hate to tell you but that lovely summer breezy wind has been blowing all afternoon.

I had to take a couple of banners and a large box of prizes down to Worthing Sailing  Club earlier today (they are hosting the Dart 18 Nationals this weekend) and although the conditions were getting a little difficult for the Darts (or for getting them and the rescue boats safely back on the beach..) the sea looked so BLUE and inviting. I really wish I had had the time to grab a quick sail (Chris Burke who we have known for years is a member at the WSC and his daughter was out on a windsurfer having a great time.. very jealous!) but the sad factor was.. the time it took me to get from Shoreham to the Club!! 45 mins going and 40 mins coming back.. the time wasted would have been plenty long enough for me to nip out for a quick sail ! Talking of which..

I did nip out for a quick sail on Wednesday evening.. you may have noticed that the wind was a bit ' iffy ' while I was out.. it's sort of my trade mark!.. and the reason, apart from being desperate to get wet, was to grab a go on a Severne Nano 78 that we had traded in (while we still have it). I was slightly underpowered on a 4.7m RRD Gamma (3 batten sail which is more like a 5.2m ) so it was a bit of an effort getting upwind to Widewater. The board needs a constant wind rather than a 'half hearted effort' and when it did blow a constant 18kts (so the stats showed) the board would pick up and go... and the when the wind dropped it was just moving along slowly again.. I kept thinking I must have missed a couple of seconds! Really funny because I could not tell  'when' it would plane.. it just 'is or it isn't ' . Most boards have a progressive feel that you accelerate and eventually are at running speed but the Nano is different! I hope to get another go on it as with 20kts it really will be a very fun bit of kit to ride and I should then be able to suss out why it is different. Price for the Nano is £1475.00 with 9 months warranty.. a good buy!
(Note. the ex- owner chose the wrong board for what he needed so we took the board back in,, and he is now a very Happy Dyno 85 owner).

I mentioned that we had a RTM Ocean Duo boat coming in and it is now here. The boat is in good condition and has two seat units (with detachable bum bags) and two RTM paddles. A new boat will put you back £690.00 so this one at £335.00 is very good value.. Call if you want us to put a Hold on it before you come and view!

The wind is looking hopeful for the weekend (sorry to all of you who SUP.. not really what you want but maybe consider a down winder??) with 16kts forecast for Saturday (may increase though..) and a better 23kts on Sunday. High Tides for Shoreham are 17.19hrs on a 5.5m Saturday and 18.12hrs on a 5.1m Sunday, so you will have pretty much the whole day to have fun before the tide gets too High!

If you are interested in joining the sailing club at Worthing (they do have membership for other watercraft owners!) you can see what they offer by clicking on the below link.
Hope You all have a great weekend and good luck to all of the Dart 18 competitors!
