Ghouls Ghosts and frigging Gremlins in the Works..but it's the Weekend!

Yes, it’s that time of the week and that can only mean.. it’s The Weekend!

Friday Night and it seems that the Weekend for Ghouls, Ghosts and in particular Gremlins , have already got into our IT systems! Our Website has been down for two days and our emails are so sporadic that we have no idea whether we are missing customers incoming or if customers are missing our outgoing.. so if you have not received a response PLEASE DO CALL US! If you are emailing you could also add surfladle@gmail.com to the recipients as that mailbox is working ok.. at the moment! The issues are all being caused by our Server being switched off in a few weeks time so that is totally out of our control and we are hoping to have the site and emails at a new host at the start of next week.. fingers are crossed!

There’s also a Halloween Ghoul turning up this weekend, depending upon your point of view, as we have another Storm called Aiden arriving tomorrow. Depending upon which tabloid papers website pops up when you search Google (bound to be Ghoulgle tomorrow..) to find out ‘ useful information’ about Aiden, it’s generally described as  ‘The Storm from Hell’!  If only the internet was a useful source of knowledge as it is starting to become worse than a Fax Machine for churning out rubbish.. but that’s just a personal view of course and you could at least stay warm by burning the roll of facsimile paper that was strewn all over the floor (showing my age now). Whatever Aiden does turn up with (the waves smashing into Sennen last weekend were spectacularly scary), it looks pretty wet and pretty windy, so batten down the hatches and then load up the tiny sails and kites.. weather and tides to follow.

Covid appears to be on the rampage (no surprise there) but as yet we have heard of no restrictions being put in place in our area, shop or beach wise.  I would hazard a guess though that at some point soon the South Coast will catch up with the rest of the UK and restrictions to movement will happen… so stock up now on anything you need in case they do call a Lockdown but Watersports are allowed (yes, panic buying is allowed at Surfladle and no restrictions on numbers of items either :) .
Covid is of course a worldwide problem, so delays have already occurred due to the manufacturing countries, such as Sri Lanka (who make a lot of the windsurf sails and kites) having already been placed into Lockdown, so production and shipping has all been put back. If you are contemplating a purchase then it’s probably worth asking us well in advance as you may be shocked by the delivery date. All in all it’s Happy days eh.. what a year 2020 has been and I am sure it will be the year that the world went Grey.. hair wise! So now to the weekends weather, to try and cheer us up!

Saturday,  we have strong Winds kicking off in the early hours from a Southerly direction, which will build during the morning to around 30-35kts by midday and then accelerate up to gusts of 45kts for a couple of hours or so before swinging to the West  and then dropping back slightly during the later afternoon and evening. That’s the good bit ..  the Ghoul is the rain which could be ‘bucketing down’ during the highest wind speeds.
The Tide hits High at 11.08hrs on a 6.15m so early afternoon onwards looks the best time to venture out.
Sunday it’s almost a case of ‘Play it again Aiden’ as the weather pattern looks very similar but with a slight Sou‘West angle in the morning ,with the winds once again gusting into the forties around High Tide and then dropping back to 25-30 kts in the afternoon. Rain looks to be more showery throughout the day. Well that is the plan but it could all change of course! The Tide won’t change as that hits High at 11.34hrs on a 6.14m ( a good tide for allowing shallow water launching at Shoreham 3-4 hrs after High).

So that is that for another week,  apart from just finding a picture of a coven of Witches paddling around on Naish boards.. is it my eyesight or could that be Robby Naish paddling the board on the left??
I hope you enjoy the last day of October, Ghoul’ish or not and that Covid won’t ruin Trick or Treating for those youngsters who really do look forward to it, so please.. No spraying them with sanitizer!!  Have a great Weekend and stay safe , out on the water!
