The last One of 2022... the Happy or not Christmas.!!

It’s the evening of Friday the 23rd of December 2022 (just in case you have started partying early) and the Christmas Weekend is almost with us..  ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’!

Personally, I cannot wait, as this will be the first time in quite a while that we will have three days off in a row! If weekends were made for anything,  then Christmas must have been pretty high up on the list and hopefully everyone involved with retail therapy will get a reasonable break, from retail therapy, hence I will not be mentioning any KIT that you could Buy in tonight’s ramble! Oh...

It’s also the time of the year when Goodwill to All Men can be in short supply, as everyone is so stressed over the whole ‘experience’, or worse still has just been made redundant, right at the worst possible time you could think of! I do think that any company that participates in that policy, should have their MD visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past, so they could plainly see the pain and suffering they cause in the name of accountancy and of increasing the profits. Bah Humbug Mr Scrooge.
But it should and could be different, if gifts and the things we ‘want’ were not the main concern. I know that the three wise men turned up with a sack of gifts but I don’t think that was the real point!
If you work for Amazon or any of the delivery companies, would it make that much difference overall nowadays, not to have the ‘Christmas Frenzy’?  It could be so much nicer if we all just had a ‘Happy Christmas’,  making it a time where we do actually spend proper TIME with our families and friends. Perhaps even extending the hand to those who are finding life increasingly hard to deal with, especially since we fell into the grip of Covid (what a mess that has made of so many people’s lives). Wouldn’t that be just so nice, just for a change?  Well, without wishing to be called negative and really not wishing to get back to reality, the truth is, it is likely to continue being a case of ‘ load up another shell Mr Putin and add another 10p plus VAT a KW/Hour Mr EDF ’. When will Goodwill return..

At least the weather has been nice! OK, maybe just warm, if perhaps a little wet.
G’damn did it rain this morning!  I’ve never seen so many drains back flowing and so much surface water on the roads. It was however windy, and although it has dropped back this evening, perhaps for a more peaceful time over the weekend, the forecast is for ‘solid’ wind from next Tuesday! There is still enough over the weekend to keep those people happy that can find the time to get wet, out on the water. It’s so good to be back at the normal December air temperatures (it is generally a warm and windy month) so a perfect time to have a last blast before the ‘normally’ chillier Jan – Feb months that follow cause kit to be ‘forgotten’. We used to call that period the 6-week shutdown, as from around the 2nd week of January through to the 3rd week of February it would be generally too cold to bother with. Nowadays we never know what we are going to get and nor do the forecasters, as they have recently admitted, so it’s a wait and see game and the kit has to stay close to hand and kept in fine fettle (you do not want kit failures at this time of year). I think that is maybe a plus of global warming, don’t you?

On another positive note , we are now past the shortest day and that is a wonderful feeling. To be moving back towards longer days and away from the dark winter evenings, is a most positive vibe!
Let’s hope that vibe can be moved on into the coming year and that Britain finds its new bearing to sail on, as it does feel to me as though we are a little ‘lost at sea’. What we need is an uplifting Kings Speech, to bring back the vigour and the self-belief associated with this small Island State, hanging off the edge of Europe. Everybody else believed in us for many a year, even if they did not like us!
I’m really quite looking forward to that, as it is a first in my life time and I do hope that King Charles does well, as he has been knocked on nearly every account in his past, by just about everyone in the Press and his own family. Go for it Mr King.. we are listening.

And that is your lot for another year, apart from a very quick Weekend weather and Tide Times.
Saturday, the Eve of Christmas!  Sou’West 11-16kts gusting 21kt and may turn Sou’Sou’West during the late afternoon.
Light rainfall also during the afternoon with a very pleasant 11°C to accompany it. Tide hits High at 11.28hrs on a 6.4m, so a perfect day for Wings on the Adur.. and a paddle as well!

Sunday, Christmas Day! Sou’Sou’West for most of the day 8-11kts and then backing Sou’ West and increasing during the evening to 18kt gusting 30kt, but it’s dark by then, so who cares!
Tide is High at 12.16hrs on a 6.4m. Hope you get a bit of fun before your Christmas Dinner.

If you are a Paigon, or a Pagan, and are absolutely fed up with all this talk of Christmas, I do apologise and hope you can translate it back into the original festivity it was aligned with.
If you have no views whatsoever on any of it, you are the perfect reader!
If you are one of the people that dropped ‘Drinks’ into the shop yesterday, I love You!
If you are having a Festive Period, I hope it goes well and we will be back briefly next week to sing Auld Lang Syne, before we plunge into the New Year of 2023.

And finally, as I mentioned earlier, this is the last for 2022 as no blog next Friday due to it being a short day (see Shop Opening Times) which I know none of you will miss anyhow, as you will have plenty to do.

So, it’s a Happy Christmas to those that do and a Happy Non-Christmas to those that don’t!
Have a cracking Time!
