Comments:
Fanatic's play in waves and blast on chop board. Fanatics Freewaves have in previous years suited heavier riders, as they needed (in my opinion) a lot of input to make them perform, but they did perform well once input had been applied! For 2010 this issue seems to have been addressed and the feedback is that it is a much more responsive board to ride, but still keeps it's fast pace across the water. Heavy weights may consider one of these as their wave board...
Due to the proximity of Nik Baker, UK Importer of Fanatic, we can often arrange the demo of a board for interested parties.. if that would help convince you to buy one! Fanatics write up as below.
The FreeWave’s shaken-up a test-winning cocktail of freestyle, fun wave and flat water blasting worldwide. As one of our most versatile and best-selling shapes, our challenge was to stretch the range of this multi-purpose style. To advance usability we improved the wave performance in the smaller sizes and boosted early planing, blasting and freestyle capabilities in the bigger models. The 2010 FreeWave line comes in five sizes - 75, 85, 95, 105 and 115.
The FreeWave 75 comes with a US-Box, to reflect it’s wavier orientation. The bigger sizes feature the Powerbox - the established standard for freestyle, freewave and freeride hulls.
All models are available in:
Custom Wood Sandwich construction with light finish - unique in terms of quality, weight and value.
Team Edition with a super-light performance Carbon Kevlar deck and Carbon bottom lay up.
Key Developments:
- Shorter, more compact shape. Increased outline area in the nose for earlier planing and smooth wave riding
- 70° pintail and rounded nose
- New CAD-designed scoop rocker line
- Full rails for maximum top-end control.
- Fuller and smoother rail in the nose area, with higher apex and more tucked-under edge
Fanatic’s CAD Master Shaper Sebastian Wenzel on one of his favourite styles.
“After assessing this style I gave a lot of attention to creating more compact outlines with fuller V, tucked-under rails and rounder nose shapes for smoothness, control and early planing. Using my CAD engineering system I’ve enhanced the rocker line that now features a higher entry point, a short flat section and a little extra tail kick to advance the FreeWave’s scale of use.”
