Hi Danny and James,
Just a quick note on my initial findings on the RRD Firemove 110. As my largest board I was looking for a light wind board to replace my very reliable 2008 RRD Freestyle Wave 110. It needed to have the capability to plane easily in light winds with a 7.5m sail, go fast through chop and gybe smoothly (not a lot to ask). I was planning to go for another updated FSW but talking to Jay at Seasprite, he suggested a leap of faith in changing to the Firemove 110 and as I have great faith in him I took his advice. On collecting the board and seeing it in the flesh for the first time I thought ‘wow that is wide for a 110’, its going to be like sailing an X-fire rather than a FSW, and I must admit doubts were starting to set in.
As luck would have it, that afternoon a marginal 16mph sea breeze set in off Ferring so I had a chance to get it out on the water. All I can say is this board does not sail at all like it looks. Firstly it gets on the plane effortlessly, even when you can barely feel the wind ( I weigh about 82KG and was using an Ezzy Freeride 3 in 7.5m), second it is very fast and stable through the chop with the straps in their middle setting, and thirdly, it turns effortlessly like a much narrower board maintaining a lot of speed through the carve. It really does feel like you are sailing a different board than the one you are looking at. Great fun for those light to medium wind days and highly recommended.

Roll on more sea breezes!

Cheers
James Lawrence
